Club de Fútbol Monterrey U14 has achieved an international feat by being crowned champions of the prestigious Snow Bowl in Philadelphia. This youth academy tournament, which brings together formative clubs from around the world, provided the young Rayados with a high-level competitive experience and valuable international exposure.
The Rayados' journey in the tournament began with a challenging match against Borussia Dortmund, which ended in a 4-3 defeat. However, the regional team showed resilience by convincingly defeating Chicago Fire FC 4-0 in their second match. The group stage concluded with a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United F.C., securing their passage to the semifinals.
In the semifinal, Club de Fútbol Monterrey U14 demonstrated their character by defeating the host, Philadelphia Union, 2-1, thus earning a spot in the grand final. The decisive match was played on Saturday, February 14, Mexico time, against Manchester United, a formidable opponent who quickly took a 2-0 lead.
Far from giving up, the young Albiazules staged a memorable comeback. Romualdo Aguirre, a forward for Rayados de Monterrey, capitalized on an error by the opposing goalkeeper to narrow the gap in the 38th minute. Shortly after, Aguirre himself dazzled by cutting past two defenders inside the box and firing a cross-shot to equalize the score.
The culminating moment arrived in the 50th minute when César Almaguer capitalized on a rebound after a corner kick.
