Monterrey announced the signing of Brazilian defender Fernando Gabriel Bertoldo Da Silva, 18, to its U-21 squad. The player, known as 'Fernandinho', arrives on a one-year loan with an option to buy. Born on March 4, 2008, in Maceió, Alagoas, the right-back was officially registered in Liga MX and has already signed his contract with the Rayados.
Gabriel, who developed through Palmeiras' youth ranks, signed his first professional contract with the club in May 2025. His move to Monterrey was facilitated by William da Silva, a Brazilian naturalized Mexican former player who competed in Liga MX. The club has not made an official announcement, but the player is already at the 'Gigante de Acero' complex and took photos there.
Other Promising Talent in the U-21 Squad
Despite the departure of Luka Ayala, Monterrey retains talent in its youth category. Standouts include Omar Gálvez, who often trains with the first team, and Christian Reyes, who has had minutes under Nicolás Sánchez. Also featured are Allen Rojas and Francisco Valenzuela, who have already debuted in Primera División, as well as Aldo Patricio De Nigris.
