Club de Fútbol Monterrey honors two of its greatest legends
Club de Fútbol Monterrey paid tribute to Magdaleno Cano and Ignacio "Gallo" Jáuregui, who joined the exclusive group of "Rayados Legends" in a ceremony before the match against Santos Laguna in the first round of the Apertura 2026 tournament. With the team currently in 5th place in Liga MX with 3 points (1 win, 0 draws, 0 losses) and a goal difference of +1, the club remembered two fundamental pillars of its history.
Who are these Monterrey icons?
Magdaleno Cano, trained in the club's youth system, debuted in 1967 and wore the blue-and-white jersey for 15 seasons. As a right-back, he played 424 official matches, becoming one of the players with the most appearances in Monterrey's history. For his part, Ignacio "Gallo" Jáuregui arrived at the club in 1963 as a defender and, after retiring, took over the blue-and-white bench, playing a key role in the team's consolidation in the First Division.
A tribute full of symbolism
The tribute included the unveiling of a plaque on the "Wall of Legends" at Estadio BBVA, where their names now appear alongside other club greats. In addition, a banner with their names and numbers was presented, hanging from the top of the stadium, remembering their legacy in every home game. The ceremony also included a soccer clinic for young players from the official Rayados Schools and an investiture dinner with family and former teammates.
